It was a pretty cool experience but we couldn't stay the whole time because it was packed and we were afraid we wouldn't catch the last train. It was on a Monday and we had school the next day.
On the train towards Kyoto.
by the end of the festival these two shrines are carried (we didn't stay long enough to see). we were also told that at the end of the festival those sake barrels are opened and people can drink it freely.
a torch was lit right next to us, some people had to move because they were too close and it was dangerous. We were nice and toasty the whole time
there were a lot of little kids, as young as two years old, carrying the torches with their parents, it was really adorable
Carolina (Ecuador) and I went to a small shop (inside a house) and had some cookies. The owner then brought us some ocha (Japanese tea) and gave it to us for free
they were chanting something while they carried the torches. I believed it's the call for the deity they of the town. They call him to come back to them.
